Choosing a Water Pump

Aquarium water pumps are essential fish tank accessories to create a healthy environment for your aquatic pets.  Before buying aquarium water pumps, it’s important for you to consider these factors first:Fish type – Some fish types thrive in calmer waters, while other species love water currents.  Before you purchase aquarium water pumps, make sure that you know the needs of your aquatic pets.Number of returns (water flow) – If you’re using a filter in which two or more return lines are needed to pump clean water back into the aquarium, it’s best to go for powerful aquarium water pumps.  This is because the water flow will lessen if your tank requires several return lines.  To make things easier, make sure that each return line has a valve so that you can control the water flow coming from each return.Heat produced – If you have a small fish tank, you’ll need small aquarium water pumps.  Using a big aquarium water pump for a small tank will result into higher water temperatures, something you don’t want to happen since aquatic animals are sensitive to fluctuating water temperatures.  Keep in mind that bigger aquarium water pumps produce more heat.  Submersible fish tank pumps may not produce too much noise but because they are submerged, they transfer heat into the water more effectively.
