Views On “Fed’s Low Interest Rates Crack Retirees’ Nest Eggs”
This article is poorly written, by stretching one particular case (Mr. Yeager’s) across the entire article to get the relevant facts. He is 91 years old, thinks he has 6 years of savings left, and moved his money from stocks to CD’s AFTER the 1987 crash. It sounds like despite bad market timing he is solvent until long past his likely end of life.
The Fed’s action are not taken in isolation. Other countries also have what are effectively zero interest rates. The only way to achieve higher rates is to tap into countries with an inflation problem – which means the conversion back to dollars will erase any gains. The fed cannot unilaterally dictate that banks find investors willing to pay higher rates to borrow money. I think there is a false anti-government thread to the article that misses the inter-relationship advice for men between sovereign nations’ policies and the relationship between those policies and investor unwillingness to pay more than market prices for loans.

Analysis On “Obama Pushes Jobs Agenda”
This Obama thinks we are all stupid, the first day he entered the White House we were losing 300,000 jobs and careers a week (after 2 years of Democrat socialist job killing when they took over the finances in 2007), and now we are losing 400,000 jobs a week.
HE TELEPROMPTER TALKED ABOUT JOBS FROM DAY ONE THEN HE STOLE 1 TRILLION UNION JOB SAVE CALLED STIMULUS
HE TALKED ABOUT JOBS AGAIN AND THEN TRIPLED THE TROOPS IN AFGHAN
HE CONTINUED TALKING ABOUT JOBS AND THEN CREATED THE BIGGEST ENTITLEMENT SINCE FDR
ONCE AGAIN HE TALKED ABOUT JOBS AND STARTED TWO NEW WARS IN LIBYA AND YEMEN
and now he is silent about our downgrade, face it non-believers THIS GUY THINKS HE HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL — IN HIS ANTI-CAPITALIST EYES, HE HAS BEEN
and that is just looking at the facts in our face, not rhetoric

Some Thoughts On “Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior”
Ms. Chua is an abusive mother married to a wimp of a man who allows his children to be mistreated. I have assigned this article to my college child development class as an example of how not to treat children. The goal of child rearing is not to see them at Yale but rather to help them create lives that bring them pleasure and make them open and optimistic as they face each day. It is important that they have skills, be it playing the piano, reading, cooking or fly fishing, but these competencies must reflect their own innate tendencies and interests. Parents should not be restless ghosts in their children’s lives but rather people who give them the tools they need to create happy, competent, caring lives – and then turn them loose to live them. If I had Ms. Chua’s address I’d send her my book Your Kids, Their Lives, but I suspect she is not a person who takes advice goddess.

My Take On “Medicare Investigation Reveals a Sharp Rise in Controversial and Expensive Prostate Cancer Treatment”
A free advice market works best where there is a government referee. No rathional person would advocate eliminating health departments so the free market can determine which restaurants are safe to eat at; nor eliminate the FDA, letting the free market determine which drugs are safe and effective. What you seem to be proposing, though you don’t say so, is that government stop paying for medical care, let the free market determine prices and, in effect, who will live or die. It might work; but when we had that kind of free market — unregulated restaurants, medicines and medical care — people didn’t seem to like it.

A Response To “Hurd’s Reign as Hewlett CEO Is Bookended by Scandal”
What a load of b.s. that his becoming Chairman of the Board on top of CEO had anything to do with this. Comment is from an activist who hates to see CEOs as COBs as well. This dual role did nothing to save him i the end, it appears. Further, there are many European companies where these roles are usually/always split that have scandals too. I love the way they try to tie their own agenda into every bit of bad news. Next, they’ll blame employee stock advice options (always a reason for some prob) or his compensation. Bottom line is if you’ve owned this stock since he took over, you’ve done well. That was what he was paid to do. I hope they find someone who can be as successful.

Using Media Relations Agencies
If you are a small business or mid-size business, one thing becomes clear pretty quickly in the business world is you are not alone and have many competitors. The only way to combat the competition is to use media relations agencies so that you can advertise and let people know you are there. No one will come to you if they do not know your business is even out there. You must make a marketing budget that works in order to expand.

Communication Technology
I’m always amazed at all of the changes in my field of communication technology when I arrive at the industry conference. I find it really exciting to be in the middle of such a revolutionary field that is constantly changing the way that we live our lives. One thing that this conference never stops doing is keeping us all synced into what is coming for our field. I like being able to network and catch up with individuals I’ve met in the past. It’s a really great event.
